PC Building Lessons

($50 per hour, 4 hour minimum) Provides the same service as normal PC building, but instead of building the computer at our office we’ll assemble your PC at your home (or place of business).  This includes, on request, every service that we offer in the Pro package: advanced cable management, case setup (any), motherboard install, psu install, cpu + air cooler or AIO install, CPU overclock (on request), premium thermal paste/pad (your choice), RAM (with sticker speed set in BIOS), GPU (with support, if needed), installation of m.2/SSD/HDD, RGB, and extra fans.  We will provide instruction on each step of the process and can answer questions along the way.  At the end you'll receive your fully assembled computer with all packaging and extra materials.

Do you want to learn how to build your own computers so you can save yourself hundreds of dollars each time you get a new PC?  Our one-on-one lessons are conducted in your home, or another location chosen by you, and at the end you’ll have a fully assembled computer.

How does it work?  You purchase all of the required parts to build a computer, whether new or used does not matter.  Then you put down a deposit and schedule a day for us to come to you and show you how to build the computer.  We recommend picking an early start time, noon or earlier, and allowing for up to eight hours for the entire process, depending on the complexity of the computer being assembled, however we are able to leave and return on another day for especially long or complicated builds, or for customers who are asking more questions than usual.  The charge is an hourly rate, so you’re free to ask as many or as few questions as you want during the process.  If it takes four hours, that's the same as our Basic Build Level, and if it takes eight hours, that's about the same as our Pro Build Level.  We will perform *any* of the tasks we do for *any* of the Build Levels while working on your computer, there are no "tiers" to this service.  Please note:  you are responsible for ensuring your hardware is compatible, unless you’ve used our hardware consultation, at which point we will take responsibility for any incompatibility issues and pay out of pocket for those to be fixed (including purchasing the correct hardware on your behalf and exchanging for the incompatible hardware, if required).  If you did not pay for a consultation and there are compatibility issues which contribute to the length of the build, you will be charged for that time spent (i.e. time spent reading manuals on your behalf, time spent replacing hardware, etc.).

Once your build is finished and the BIOS configured we will stop the build timer, provide a 30 minute tutorial on the basic operation of the new computer, and begin any other services which have been requested, such as installation of Windows, Emby media server setup, peripheral setup, etc.  You will be left with any additional parts which came in the hardware boxes, as well as the boxes themselves for any potential future RMA process through the manufacturer.  Because your computer was assembled from individual parts, you’ll be under warranty for each individual component, so we recommend keeping all of the receipts and boxes, as well as any leftover screws or other hardware that came in the boxes.  Since the build time is not fixed, if the build time does not allow for additional services on the same day then a new day will be picked to return for those services.

At the end of the process you should have the skills you need to maintain and upgrade your new computer, or to build your next computer, saving you hundreds of dollars on all future builds.  You’re also welcome to record the process on your phone with pictures or video, which should help with any future maintenance.  If you have any basic questions about your new computer in the months or years following your build please feel free to reach out and, within reason, we’ll be happy to answer basic questions at no additional charge.
